SURFACES

Sanded surface: totally soft and smooth surface achieved by uniform sanding of the wood. Can be finished with oxidative oil, UV oil or lacquered.

Brushed surface: planks with brushed surface highlight the original characteristics of wood. The soft parts of wood are brushed out of the floorboards. These can be oxidative oiled and UV oiled. Combining with selected finishing the annual tree rings can be specially emphasized.

Distressed surface: a special technique of the artificial aging of floorboards, giving an old, aged floorboards look. An optional surface for almost all product range finished with oxidative oil and UV oil.

Raw surface: untreated surface available in sanded or brushed versions.

FINISHINGS

White annual tree rings: this special feature is achieved by applying an additional coating of white pigment, to create a contrasting look on the surface. To ensure the easy maintenance of the product, additional layers of selected finishing are applied

afterwards.

Natural oxidative oil: this natural-oiled surface is a completely natural and ecological solution. Oxidative oil is a product based on natural materials, excluding artificial color pigments, perfumes or preservatives. It allows the floor to breathe due to a special open pores feature.

Brut effect oxidative oil: a special finishing oil with additives of white pigments which allows the creation of an effect of raw, unfinished looks on natural floorboards. In combination with thermo- treated surfaces, the final color looks more calm and cozy.

White oxidative oil: this finishing applied on natural floorboards will create a beautiful shade and rooms will appear brighter. In combination with thermo-treated surfaces – the colors vary from light brown to bluish.

Natural UV oil: the UV oil consists of approximately 60% sustainable ingredients. The look after application resembles oxidative oil matt surfaces, but due to its durability has the maintenance and care features of lacquered surfaces.

Brut effect UV oil: this finishing gives durability, high surface protection features and matt appearance as unfinished and raw look floorboards.

White UV oil: this finishing is perfect for contemporary areas due to its light, smooth feeling of

oxidative oils, and the maintenance features same as of lacquered surfaces.

Natural lacquer: this finishing entirely seals the surface of the floorboards. It has a matt surface and all features of traditional, easy maintainable flooring. However, this is at the expense of a totally natural surface.

White lacquer: easy maintenance and light, soft aesthetic looks, this is the perfect option for projects due to its finishing.

COLLECTIONS

Authentic range: a selection of classic floorings with authentic looks. Factory finishing with oxidative oils allows to obtain a silky surface. The special feature of this range is that open pores allow the floor to breathe. Oxidative oil is a product based on natural raw materials, excluding artificial colour pigments, perfumes or preservatives, ensuring a highly environmental profile. The surface is water repellent, sensitive to dirt, easy to maintain and smear resistant.

Contemporary range: a selection of modern floorings factory finished with UV oils. UV oil is a product which penetrates the wood, preserving the natural look and warmth of the wood and at the same time creating a protective film on the surface similar to polyurethane finishing. It requires little effort for care and maintenance and is very durable.

Intensive range: a selection of sealed surfaces finished with lacquer and aluminium oxide. Penetration of dust, dirt and humidity is fully protected against by this highly abrasion-resistant surface, making this product perfect for high-use surfaces. Furthermore, the product is almost free from solvents and formaldehyde.

Do-it-yourself range: if required, any of parquet flooring is available with an unfinished surface. If you have a special vision of the surface treatment you want, you can tailor the finishing according to your own wishes and requirements after installation.

GRADING

You can choose from three distinctive looks

Select grade: our premium grade which displays a more uniform color and variation in shade. It still exhibits small areas of character which enhance the natural appearance of your exclusive floor. Planks are mostly free from knots, with a max. diameter of 10 mm; isolated small sound knots and slight stress cracks are possible, but filled with a matching color filler.

Classic grade: a grade characterized by a more vigorous palette in color, sound and with repaired knots up to 40 mm. Heartwood, which enhances the natural appearance of this classic exclusive floor, is also present. The knots are repaired by gluing in real wood knots to re-create a natural look. Especially with thermo-treated floorboards, variation in color enhances the appearance of beauty.

Rustic grade: a grade characterized by more picturesque patterns of wood, without restrictions on color variations. The sound knots quantity is not restricted. Repaired knots up to 60 mm and sapwood, which is also present, enhance the natural appearance of the floor. Cracks up to 3 mm in width and 1/3 of the length of the board, filled with special filler or polyamide, are possible.

UNDER-FLOOR HEATING

Gallery-Expo  engineered flooring is ideal for installation on top of a well-functioning under-floor heating system. This results an ideal thermal distribution throughout the area to be heated and provides maximum living comfort. Optimal stability and durability are assured even for large widths. As flooring over under-floor heating must be laid in a very professional manner, the installer is always responsible to ensure that the basic instructions of installation are observed very carefully. If you have any hesitations, please send us the detailed report about required floor heating system, and our technical service will offer you the installation method.

INSTALLATION

Advanced features of production and characteristics of engineered floor allow multiple installation methods such as floating system, nailing to the sub-floor, nailing to beams or gluing down to the sub-floor. Gallery-Expo  flooring is produced using the latest milling technology, allowing all floors to have perfect tongue and groove joint connection. Wood is a living material - it can shrink or expand in response to changing atmospheric conditions. This natural process should be taken into consideration when laying a floor. Always entrust the installation of your flooring to a professional installer and follow installation instructions.

Thermo treatment

The thermal modification of wood is an environmentally-friendly process. The wood material is modified using only heat and steam. No toxic or other chemicals (such as ammoniac) are used in the modification process. Thermal treatment allows to obtain of a wide range of products with color tones ranging from light through medium to dark. It changes the appearance of the traditional light wood types so that they can be used as an alternative to dark tropical woods, thus helping to preserve the delicate nature of

the rainforests. During this process, the wood color changes in its all cross sections.

PHYSICAL VALUES OF THERMO TREATED WOOD

Equilibrium Moisture Content

-Reduced equilibrium moisture, which is permanent.

Stability

- Swelling, shrinkage and cupping is very low.

Permeability

-For a short period, the water permeability of thermal modified wood is approximately 20% - 30% lower than that of normal kiln-dried wood.

Biological Durability

-Biological durability is higher than that of normal kiln-dried ood. Tests have been conducted using Coniophora puteana and Poria placenta, the most common and problematic fungi.

Weather Resistance: Rain & Sunlight

-The test with water has shown that thermal modified wood had about half the moisture content of normal kiln-dried wood. Moreover, this difference remained after five years of exposure.

-Ultraviolet radiation causes a similar color change in both thermal modified and normal kiln-dried wood. Therefore, surface treatment is highly recommended.

Hardness

-Test results have shown that the thermal modification of hardwoods or softwoods does not noticeably affect hardness of the wood according to Brinell.
